A Pool on Middle River
Middle River
"There are rivers that we fly-fish that are simply things of beauty.
Rivers that cause us to be happy just to be near them.
Rivers that have something special about them. Lamar Creek in Yellowstone National Park is one such river, with clear, cold water and willing rainbow trout to play with, all beneath the gaze of kibitzing bison in the shadow of scenery that is so stupendous it defies imagination.
The Bow River in Alberta is a similar river, with its jade green, swiftly-flowing water that is home to at least four species of trout so you’re never really sure what’s on the end of your line when you are fishing there; again, the scenery is spectacular.
But some rivers are special because they are much nearer and can be fished regularly so you get to know them, or at least you think you do, and if they have some of those unique qualities of the more famous rivers, well so much the better.
You can really fall for such a river, it becomes Home Water.
I was introduced to Middle River by Norm, and would be remiss if I didn’t note that it was one of his favourite rivers as well..."
