Crosby Shoe Factory Dam, Hebron, NS - DIP Day 10

Ice Water
On my way back from town yesterday, I stopped and got this image at the Crosby Shoe Factory dam.
The factory was run by a cousin (of course, he was a Crosby) and is a lovely small water feature to get photos of. The falls have a nice flow most of the year and the dam in winter takes on an icy look.
For beginning photographers out there - this was taken with a long exposure (3 seconds) on a cloudy day, which works out perfectly as if you keep the camera still it allows for the image to have that smooth flowing water look, and yet the ice and stones are still sharp and in focus. The key of course is to keep the camera still while doing this (you do have a tripod, right?), and to compensate for the longer exposure with a low ISO and a very fast shutter speed.
Fun to make such an image, and with all the clouds we've had since I started my DIP, one of the better things is to take advantage of the cloud cover and shoot moving water!
