My 1990 SM500 Cannondale Mountain Bike

Bikes
Norma and I just had our anniversary, but there is another anniversary that we can celebrate today. In 1990, for our 24th wedding anniversary, Norma and I bought mountain bikes which were very good to have at our home in Walbrook, Shelburne County because we lived on a very rural road, could hop on the bikes, and could have all kinds of exercise!
In Yarmouth county we live on Highway 1 which is not quite as inviting do bike riding particularly to Norma, but there are rails to trails nearby and of course our family summer place in Deerfield – where we ride all the time, including a lovely ride over to Ellenwood Provincial Park.
I looked into perhaps getting a new bike, because I'm still riding that same 1990 Cannondale mountain bike, and what I discovered at a local bike shop is that my bike is considered a classic and is actually worth more than what I paid for it! That got me quite interested in fixing my bike up (riding a classic instead of a “new fangled” bike) and so I spent a couple of days tuning up my bike, including treating it to a degrease and oil treatment, adjusting the shifters and chain and a new wax job. Just in time, too – as we finally got a little rain yesterday, just as I was trying out the adjustments I’d made with a ride to Digby County. All’s well, my legs felt it, but I made it back – and now I can look forward to some family rides over at the cottage when grandson Theo and his parents arrive, as I’m sure there are bike rides in our immediate future.
Great fun to have my Bikey Boy back on the road – Ride On!
