Pumpkins Ready for Halloween

Halloween
"I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
Henry David Thoreau
Cousin Henry's thoughts aside - I do love Halloween, and while sitting on a pumpkin might not be so much fun, as a kid I loved the whole process of dressing up and then running through the neighbourhood gathering treats.
As an adult I loved treating the kids and although our decorations may be small by some folk's standards, Norma and I have a lot of fun getting the house ready. I carve the pumpkins and bake the seeds for our own treats, and we put out some spider webs and other spooky paraphernalia.
The only problem here in Port Maitland is that few little ones make it down our driveway, despite our attempts to have it well lit and receptive.
That's OK, though - I get to sample the treats myself, and still take part vicariously by hearing about the fun our grandson has in the city.
Halloween - as the descendant of a number of Salem witches, perhaps Roald Dahl's quote is fitting:
"A witch never gets caught. Don’t forget that she has magic in her fingers and devilry dancing in her blood."
Happy Halloween!
