Wall Brook, Nova Scotia

A Decade
As we wind down 2018, I realized that 2019 will be the 10th anniversary for Bill Curry Photography as a business entity. I have sold my photographs since 1974 while in University, but it was in 2009 that I went into the photography business full time as I retired from my job in education.
The image above was one I made for one of the courses I took as a refresher before I made the leap into professional photography, it’s of the Ducks Unlimited project across the street from our former home in Wallbrook, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia. Still one of my favourite images, it has been sold a number of times (to folks as far away as Japan), been in several photography shows and even used commercially.
The thing is, this image isn’t the only one that has that kind of record. I’ve been thrilled with the reception my work has had in the last 10 years, among the most gratifying being the awards I’ve received from fellow photographers as a number of my images have won national and international awards – and have been winners in Canada, the United States and in Europe. I also love that people come in and buy prints because they feel a connection with an image. Of course, once a teacher always a teacher, and so another very intriguing and most enjoyable part of my business is the teaching and presentations I get to do for folks who wish to get into or improve their photography.
I am looking forward to what comes next, as one never knows where the future might take you.
So, as 2019 is coming with all of its new photographic opportunites, and we’re now only 100 days away from a new trout fishing season, it’s fun to think back, but also to look ahead.
Here’s hoping you and yours have a wonderful Holiday Season and a most joyous and happy New Year!
