Every Year, Norma and I get a real tree and decorate it with family ornaments. Like most folks, we have many that have been with us for a long time, and some years we use almost all of them, while others wait their turn.
This year we got a relatively small tree, so after I set it up and put the lights on it, Norma decided to use mainly just our bird ornaments this year. That was fun, because we have many ornaments with a bird theme, and of course the Christmas Bird count happens while the tree is up, so that seemed appropriate.
We had a great bird count, including a Snow Goose and a Pileated woodpecker in our sightings, and over the last few days friends have come in and many have commented on the tree and its decorations. Family, friends and tradition – it’s what the season is all about.
